According to Vietnamese law (Starting from Aug 2019), all travel companies have to buy insurance for their customers. We buy insurance for all guests trekking with us. To do this we will need the name and passport numbers of all travelers.
This insurance covers a small portion of costs in the event of an accident during the trek.
We highly recommend that you have your own travel insurance.
For your protection, we strongly recommend the purchase of travel insurance. Travel insurance provides you with trip cancellation/interruption, travel delay, medical expenses, emergency assistance, air flight, baggage and baggage delay coverages to protect your financial investment. Medical coverage purchased with your policy will also satisfy our requirement for health insurance.
No, we only do private tours.
The roads in Ha Giang can be challenging, with steep hills, sharp turns, and unpredictable traffic. It’s not recommended for inexperienced riders. If you are a safe driver and have a valid driver’s license, we can help you arrange it.
If you drive your own motorbike, please provide a valid license. We need to keep your passport and will return it to you after your tour. In case your motorbike is broken during the trip, you are responsible for the cost to fix the bike.
If you do not possess a valid license but still wish to drive independently, we will need to hold onto your passport and $200 per person in case you are stopped by the police. This amount will be refunded to you upon the successful completion of the tour.
Please be aware that the police in Ha Giang conduct thorough checks along all routes. It is imperative that all travelers possess a valid license for their mode of transportation. Failure to provide a valid license may result in a substantial fine starting at $200 USD and potentially exceeding this amount. This fine will be the sole responsibility of the individual in violation.
We strongly advise all travelers to ensure they have the necessary licenses and documentation required by local authorities before embarking on their journey through Ha Giang. Bring a smaller backpack with a change of clothes and personal things needed for the tour. You can buy water along the way, but bring some with you if you choose to go off the main tourist trail. All homestays provide bed sheets, and towels and have mosquito nets over the bed but bring mosquito repellent for the evenings. Other things to bring: sun cream, extra toilet paper, snacks for the road, warm clothes if you trek in winter, early spring, or late autumn, and a swimsuit if you come in the summer. Lunch is included in all our tours. If you are on an overnight tour, you will also have breakfast and dinner at the homestay. Dinners are a mix of traditional food, including plenty of vegetables, pork, rice, and tofu.
If you have any food restrictions or allergies, please let us know in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Homestays are a type of inn, typically run by local families.
Guests share one large loft in the homestay, located on the second floor of a beautiful traditional house. The host and their family stay in a separate part of the home. Some homestays also offer private rooms or bungalows, which can be booked for an additional fee—just let us know in advance.
All homestays have hot showers, Western-style toilets, comfortable beds, and delicious traditional food. They are clean and safe.

You can leave your luggage for free in Lila Inn’s luggage room while trekking. Remember to bring your passport with you.
